Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar is an RPG where players alternate between two interconnected worlds. The protagonist, Lan, explores a physical city to find access points for entering the internet's cyberworld, where his NetNavi, Mega Man, operates. Combat occurs in this digital space, blending strategic chip selection with real-time movement to avoid attacks.

The narrative follows Lan's move to a technologically advanced city, where he and Mega Man learn of two ancient, destructive entities known as Cybeasts. A criminal group seeks to revive these creatures, leading Mega Man to merge with the wolf-like Cybeast Gregar. This grants a temporary transformation that significantly increases attack capabilities, though overuse carries a challenging risk of leaving Mega Man vulnerable afterward.

Gameplay systems include the Cross Change feature, allowing Mega Man to adopt the attributes of defeated enemy Navis, which can be combined with his Cybeast power for enhanced effects. The title has a counterpart version, Cybeast Falzar, enabling connectivity for trades and battles with exclusive chips.
