About Classic Games DB
A place to discover, explore, and revisit classic video games from earlier generations.
Classic Games DB is an independent classic video game database built for players who still enjoy the games, systems, and characters that shaped earlier generations of gaming.
Our aim is to bring useful information about classic games together in one place while making it easy to browse titles by platform, genre, series, release year, and other related information. When supported, selected games can also be played directly in a modern web browser through browser-based emulation.
What you can find on Classic Games DB
Classic Games DB covers games from a growing collection of older platforms, including NES, SNES, SEGA Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DOS, Flash, and other classic systems.
Depending on the game, a page may include information such as:
- Game title, alternative names, and release information.
- Platform, genre, developer, publisher, and related game details.
- Gameplay descriptions and control instructions.
- Screenshots and other visual references.
- Related games, franchises, characters, and series.
- Browser-based gameplay when a compatible emulator is available.
Why we built the site
Older games are often spread across incomplete databases, archived websites, old manuals, fan pages, and many different sources. Classic Games DB is intended to make that information easier to browse and understand without requiring visitors to search across multiple sites.
We also want the site to remain useful on modern devices. Pages are designed for current desktop and mobile browsers while keeping the presentation simple and focused on the games themselves.
Preserving classic game information
Video games are an important part of software and entertainment history. Information about older releases can become difficult to find as hardware disappears, websites close, and documentation becomes harder to access.
Classic Games DB aims to document and organize information about these games so that players, collectors, researchers, and anyone curious about classic gaming can continue to discover them.
An independent project
Classic Games DB is an independent website and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Nintendo, SEGA, Sony, Microsoft, Atari, or any other video game developer, publisher, console manufacturer, or trademark owner.
Game titles, characters, logos, trademarks, screenshots, artwork, and other third-party intellectual property belong to their respective owners.
Corrections and contributions
Information about older games is not always perfectly documented, especially when regional releases, ports, prototypes, or different versions are involved. If you notice incorrect information, missing details, a broken page, or another issue, please contact us.
If there is a classic game you would like to see added to the database, you can also submit a suggestion through our Request a Game page.
