The Faery Tale Adventure: Book I

The Faery Tale Adventure: Book I is a role-playing game set in the land of Holm, where a stolen protective talisman must be recovered from an evil Necromancer. Players control one of three brothers at a time, each with distinct attributes: Julian excels in physical combat, Philip possesses greater intelligence and luck, and Kevin is characterized by his kindness.

Exploration is a central activity, with a seamless, interconnected world comprising thousands of screens, a scale notable for its time. Game systems include a day and night cycle and requirements for the character to eat and rest. Interaction with non-player characters provides quests and narrative context.

Combat uses a simple action-based system where the player maneuvers the character and attacks with a key press. Defeating enemies grants bravery points, a primary stat that increases both experience and strength, while also raising maximum health at a slower rate. The game's difficulty could be considered fair, as each brother can be revived several times after defeat before facing permanent death, at which point control shifts to the next sibling.
