About The Black Cauldron

The Black Cauldron is a side-view adventure title adapted from the Disney film. Players assume the role of Taran, an assistant pig-keeper in Caer Dalben, whose charge Hen Wen possesses magical abilities sought by the Evil Horned King. The antagonist aims to use the pig to find the Black Cauldron, an artifact that would grant him world domination, prompting Taran's quest to rescue Hen Wen and thwart these plans.

Its control scheme departs from the text parsers common in contemporary Sierra adventures, instead relying on function keys for issuing commands. Character movement includes walking, running, and swimming, while interaction with other figures and the environment is central to progression. Advancement hinges on solving puzzles through the contextual use of items, requiring specific objects to be employed at appropriate times and places.
