About Top Gun: Firestorm

Top Gun: Firestorm for the Game Boy Color is a mission based flight action game. Its narrative framework is a very loose adaptation of the film, following the pilot Maverick through a progression of training scenarios.

Gameplay involves piloting an F-14 Tomcat across isometric maps to fulfill various mission objectives. The player has access to a quartet of armaments, including a machine gun, bombs, rockets, and missiles, to engage both airborne and ground targets. The structure and feel of the action bear a resemblance to titles in the Strike series.

Story progression occurs intermittently between missions through the use of still images. The ultimate goal for the player character is to complete a dozen missions and graduate from the Top Gun school.
