About The Bard’s Tale III: Thief of Fate

The Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate continues the series as a first-person fantasy role-playing game. Its narrative begins immediately after the events of the previous title, The Destiny Knight, where victorious heroes learn their home of Skara Brae has been destroyed by Tarjan, the master of a previously defeated foe. This compels a new journey from a refugee camp to confront this greater threat.

Gameplay involves navigating maze-like environments presented in a pseudo-3D perspective, including towns, dungeons, and wilderness areas. This installment expands the world by dividing it into distinct realms accessed through time warps, which feature varied themes such as ancient Rome and World War II Berlin. Exploration is aided by the new inclusion of an auto-mapping feature.

Two additional character classes, the Geomancer and Chronomancer, are introduced for party creation. The game offers a greater number of dungeons to explore compared to earlier entries in the series.
