About Rise of the Phoenix

Rise of the Phoenix is a strategic conflict simulation set in 206 B.C. China, where players assume the role of one of two rival warlords, Liu Bang or Xiang Yu. Victory is achieved through the complete military conquest of the region, requiring the capture of every city.

Management of occupied territories is necessary to fund military expansion, with taxation being a primary means to raise armies. The strategic layer is presented via overhead maps displaying cities and troop movements, from which players initiate various military actions.

Combat unfolds in two distinct modes: open-field engagements and castle sieges. Beyond direct assaults, the available tactics include orchestrating ambushes, conducting covert night raids on enemy camps, and employing environmental strategies such as damming rivers to flood enemy fortifications. The game supports both solo play against computer opponents and a two-player competitive mode.
