Review

Choose from eight Zords and villains in a fighting game with story, versus, and survival modes.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition was developed by Natsume and published by Bandai for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), released in North America in September 1995. It is a console-exclusive fighting game with no earlier arcade or other-platform version, so the original release year is also 1995.

About Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition adapts the television series into a fighting game format. Players select from eight combatants, which are divided evenly between heroic Zords like the Thunder Megazord and villainous characters such as Goldar and Lord Zedd.

Three primary modes structure the experience. A single-player Story Mode tasks the player with defeating a sequence of opponents, culminating in a final battle against Ivan Ooze, and allows a choice between two specific Zords at the outset. Direct two-player competition is available in Fighting Mode, where any character is available. For a challenging solo test, Trial Mode functions as a survival challenge where a single health bar must be conserved across numerous fights.

Combat utilizes a Power Bar that fills on its own. Special moves can be enhanced when this bar is flashing, and at its maximum level, more powerful Super Moves become available. These high-damage techniques are a core strategic element during matches.
