Lead a custom party to explore towns and dungeons, seeking to defeat the vengeful Exodus.

Exodus: Ultima III was originally released in 1983 for the Apple II and other computer platforms. The NES version was released in Japan by Pony Canyon in 1987 and in North America by FCI in 1989. The earliest worldwide commercial release on the NES platform is 1987 (Japan).

About Exodus: Ultima III

Ultima: Exodus presents a narrative where the hero from Earth must confront a new threat in Sorsaria. This danger emerges as Exodus, the offspring of previously defeated antagonists, reaches maturity and seeks vengeance.

Gameplay diverges from earlier series entries by allowing the player to form a party of adventurers at the outset. Character creation involves determining classes and attributes for these group members.

The world is explored through a mix of top-down overworld travel and first-person perspective dungeons. Settlements are more expansive than before and contain non-player characters who provide information necessary for progression.

Combat occurs on a separate screen, utilizing a turn-based system where the party engages multiple monsters on a grid. This structural change to party-based adventure and tactical combat defines the experience as challenging, requiring management of several characters and strategic movement during encounters.
