Review
Also known as
カベール

Control a soldier who dodges enemy fire while aiming a targeting reticle to shoot back.

Cabal was originally released in arcades in 1988 by TAD Corporation. The NES version was released in 1989 in North America by Milton Bradley, with a European release by Ocean Software also in 1989. The legacy year 1988 refers to the arcade original, not the NES port.

About Cabal

Cabal is a shooter originally developed for arcades. The player controls a character who moves horizontally at the screen's bottom, avoiding incoming fire from various enemies.

Enemy forces are numerous and appear at a challenging pace across five levels. These adversaries range from infantry and tanks to helicopters, with larger bosses like submarines encountered at each stage's conclusion. The player fights back by directing an on screen targeting reticle, a necessary action that also controls the character's movement and can leave them vulnerable.

Destructible elements are widespread, with most on screen objects capable of being destroyed. Bonus points are awarded for demolishing structures, and defeated enemies may drop weapon upgrades such as machine guns or shotguns. The game supports a two player mode.
