About Pocket Monsters : Red Version

Pocket Monsters: Red Version centers on a young trainer's journey to become champion by collecting eight gym badges. This primary goal involves navigating the Kanto region, interacting with its inhabitants, and searching for useful items. A persistent rival and the criminal Rocket Gang provide recurring opposition that must be overcome through battle.

The experience is divided between exploration and turn based combat. Encounters with wild creatures or other trainers initiate battles where players command a single creature. During a fight, commands include selecting an attack from the creature's moveset, switching to another creature, using an item, or attempting to flee from wild encounters. Attacks can reduce a target's health, alter its capabilities, or inflict debilitating conditions. Victory is achieved when the opponent has no creatures left able to fight.

Capturing wild creatures with special items expands a trainer's team, while a link cable feature allows for trading and battling with the companion Green Version. This connectivity is required to obtain every creature, as some are exclusive to each version.
