About Cave Noire

Cave Noire presents a top-down, turn-based dungeon experience where each action occurs in a strict sequence of phases. The player's avatar, monsters, and interactive elements populate these randomly generated spaces. Success depends on managing statistics such as attack and defense, which can be modified by discovering equipment. Combat is resolved automatically when adjacent, factoring in these stats along with a random element to determine health loss.

Four distinct quest types form the core progression, each with ten escalating difficulty levels. Advancing to a higher level requires completing the current one, which is the sole piece of data the game retains. The challenging nature of these dungeons is underscored by permanent death; failing a quest means starting over in a completely new layout.

Environmental interaction is a significant factor, with certain walls and floor tiles triggering effects like damage, transportation, or concealment. Fog can hide parts of a room until explored, while specific monsters can permanently alter the visibility of the area upon defeat. Various consumable items and rings provide effects such as healing, inflicting poison, or granting temporary invisibility, adding strategic layers to navigation and combat.
