About The Mask of Zorro

The Mask of Zorro for the Game Boy Color is a side-scrolling platformer where sword combat is central to the experience. Players control the masked hero, utilizing a system of fencing moves and blocks to engage enemies.

The narrative adapts the 1998 film, beginning in 1821 California under the oppressive rule of Governor Don Rafael Montero. After the original Zorro is captured and imprisoned, the story jumps forward two decades to his escape and the training of a new hero to carry on the fight.

Character survival is managed by an energy bar that depletes upon taking hits, with exhaustion resulting in defeat. The combat mechanics are designed around this health system, requiring strategic use of the available offensive and defensive actions.
