About Robopon Sun Version

Robopon Sun Version is a Game Boy Color title where the player assumes the role of Cody, inheriting a Robopon Dispatching Company from his retired grandfather. The core progression involves traveling across Porombo Island to battle other collectors, with a primary goal of defeating the elite group known as the Legend 7 and claiming their ranks.

The gameplay systems are turn-based, involving battles where owners command their Robopon to attack or defend. Healing during combat is possible through spells found or purchased, or by visiting dispatch centers. A distinct mechanic allows the victor to sometimes claim add-on items dropped by a defeated opponent in battle.

Character development revolves around upgrading Robopon by installing software and parts, which occupy space and determine available attacks. Software can be combined to create special moves. The player begins with a single Robopon named Sunny, though the initial partner is selected based on the birth date entered at the start of a new game.

Completion requires trading with the companion Star Version via infrared to collect all 153 Robopon types. The overall structure and mechanics share significant similarities with the Pokémon series.
