About Magi Nation

Magi Nation for the Game Boy Color is a turn based role playing game where the player guides Tony Jones, a boy transported to a monster filled realm called the Moonlands. His goals are twofold: to aid the locals against Dark Magi invaders and to seek a path back to his own world.

The core progression involves exploring an overworld and engaging in battles that resemble those in the Pokémon series, albeit without a creature evolution system. Instead, players must continually find and train new Dream Creatures to keep pace with stronger enemies encountered in later areas. Up to four of these creatures can be summoned at once during a turn based duel.

While the battle screen layout may suggest a card game, the player has direct control over all actions each turn, with no random card drawing element. Additional systems include spells for the protagonist to cast, equipment artefacts for creatures, and the pursuit of secret legendary hyrens to collect. After completing the main story, a New Game+ mode becomes available, offering further hidden content.
