About Ready 2 Rumble Boxing

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing for Game Boy Color is a portable version of its 3D console counterpart, translating the experience with 2D visuals and more straightforward controls. The presentation retains elements from the original, including full-motion video introductions for each fighter and the licensed commentary of Michael Buffer, who delivers his signature catchphrase.

Gameplay consists of two primary modes: Arcade for single matches and Championship, which involves progressing through a series of opponents. Fights are viewed from an angled perspective and are decided in a best-of-three format. A health system tracks both strength and stamina, while successful punches build a special meter. Once this R-U-M-B-L-E meter is full, a powerful combination attack can be activated.

Players begin with access to seven of the game's cartoonish boxers, with three additional characters available to unlock. Control inputs are simplified, mapping basic punches to two buttons, with directional inputs modifying them to uppercuts or body blows. A hardware feature exclusive to the US release is a rumble cartridge, designed to provide physical feedback during matches.
