About Disney's Tarzan

Disney's Tarzan for the Game Boy Color is a side-scrolling platformer based on the 1999 film. The game features three playable characters: Tarzan, his gorilla friend Terk, and Jane. Across 23 levels, the objectives and abilities shift depending on who is being controlled.

While navigating the jungle, Tarzan and Terk must collect a specific number of bananas before locating a friend to complete a stage. Their movement includes swinging on vines, swimming, climbing certain walls, and traversing dense foliage. The environment is populated by hostile animals such as baboons, snakes, and fish, which must be avoided rather than defeated. Jane's gameplay is distinct, lacking the agility for vine swinging; she instead uses an umbrella to fend off threats.

The adventure includes two significant confrontations: one against the leopardess Sabor and another against the hunter Clayton. An early segment features bonus stages where a young Tarzan must evade an elephant stampede while gathering bananas. For additional features, a unique two-player "Hide 'n 'Seek" mode allows one player to hide a character for another to find within a time limit. The game also supports the Game Boy Printer, enabling players to create and print composite images from various backgrounds and character graphics.
