About Tablet War
Tablet War was one of those side-scrolling Flash games you might have stumbled across in the late 2000s. It had a distinct look, with hand-drawn graphics that gave it a rough, almost sketchbook feel compared to the sleeper vector art common at the time. You played as a lone warrior, a guy with a sword, moving through a landscape that felt perpetually grim.
You control this warrior with the arrow keys to move, while A attacks, S blocks, and D jumps. The moment-to-moment play is a cycle of advancing, engaging groups of enemy soldiers, and managing your space. The main objective is simply to push forward, surviving each screen of conflict to reach the end. You learn to time your blocks to deflect incoming arrows and close the distance to use your sword. The pacing is deliberate; you can't rush through. It feels methodical, a series of small, tense engagements where a missed block or a mistimed jump ends things quickly. The game feels like a slow, careful duel stretched across an entire battlefield.
