About Paladin In Hell
Paladin in Hell was one of those games you'd find buried on a Flash portal in the late 2000s. It had that distinct look of the era, with detailed pixel art and a dark fantasy setting that felt a bit more serious than a lot of the other free games floating around. You played as a lone knight, and the premise was straightforward. You had to fight your way through a demonic army to reach and defeat the Devil.
You control the paladin from a side view, moving left and right across a series of platform-filled screens. The moment-to-moment play is about combat. You swing your sword at the imps and larger demons that spawn, and you can block incoming attacks with your shield. Health is limited, so avoiding damage is key. The main objective is to clear each screen of enemies to progress deeper into the hellscape. The pacing is methodical, almost tense, because the rooms are confined and enemies attack quickly. It was not an easy game; you had to learn attack patterns and manage your positioning carefully. The game feels like a deliberate, weighty duel against overwhelming odds.
