About Combat Instinct 1

Combat Instinct 1 was a Flash game from the mid-2000s. It fit right in with other browser based shooters of that era, the kind you would find on a gaming portal and play for a quick session. The game had a simple, functional look that was common for the time.

You control a soldier from a top down perspective. Your main goal is to survive waves of alien enemies that close in from all sides of the screen. You aim and fire with your mouse, and you can press the spacebar to make your character take cover behind certain objects, which blocks incoming fire. The pacing is fast. Enemies keep coming, and you need to keep moving and shooting to avoid being surrounded. The game feels tense and immediate, a straightforward test of your reflexes in a confined space.
