About Brutal Max

Brutal Max was one of those games you'd find in the late 2000s, tucked away on a Flash game portal. It belonged to that era of simple, direct browser games before they faded away. You knew what you were getting just from the name.

You control Max, a character moving from left to right through a series of platforming levels. Your main tool is a sword, used to cut down the enemies that block your path. The mouse directs your slashes, letting you swing in different arcs to dismember foes. You also jump across gaps and onto higher ledges, navigating the environment. The goal is straightforward: reach the end of each stage. The pace is quick, and the difficulty comes from the timing of your attacks and the placement of hazards. It feels immediate and physical, a game of swift, violent motions.
