Weird Dreams

Review

This psychological horror adventure challenges you to survive surreal dreamscapes and retrieve four orbs to escape a daemon's trap.

Weird Dreams was developed by Best Ever Games and published by Rainbird Software in 1988 for the Amiga, Atari ST, and MS-DOS. The DOS version was released in 1988, making it the earliest commercial release for that platform and the original release year for the game.

About Weird Dreams

Weird Dreams is a third-person experience blending action and puzzle mechanics within a surreal subconscious landscape. Its narrative framework involves a hospitalized patient whose mind is held captive by an entity named Emily, requiring the collection of three orbs to achieve freedom.

The gameplay unfolds across a series of bizarre, self-contained scenarios that reflect a dreamlike, Dali-esque aesthetic. These segments feature unconventional objectives, such as confronting animated totem poles or interacting with strange entities in a haunted setting. A printed short novel accompanies the software, providing deeper narrative context and functioning as a form of copy protection.
