About WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness

WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness is a real-time strategy game that expands its conflict to include naval and aerial combat alongside traditional ground engagements. The narrative continues the fantasy saga on Azeroth, where the orcish forces, having previously subjugated the kingdom of Azeroth, now target the northern realm of Lordaeron and its allies.

In response to this threat, the human, dwarven, and elven factions unite to form a defensive alliance. The game introduced technical enhancements for its time, including higher resolution SVGA graphics with newly designed visual assets and a soundtrack adhering to the Red Book audio standard.

Beyond the structured campaigns, the software provided tools for user-generated content and competitive play. A bundled scenario editor, which required a Windows 3.1 or later environment to operate, allowed for the creation of custom missions. The game also supported multiplayer matches for up to eight participants.
