Utopia: The Creation of a Nation

Review

This city-builder adds military strategy to colony management, challenging you to ensure citizen happiness while defending against alien threats.

Utopia: The Creation of a Nation was originally released in 1991 for the Amiga and Atari ST. The DOS version was released in 1992.

About Utopia: The Creation of a Nation

In this futuristic colony management simulation, players assume the role of an administrator tasked with establishing a settlement on a distant planet. The primary objective is to achieve a high Quality of Life rating for the colonists, which requires balancing essential infrastructure like housing, power, and employment with services such as policing and entertainment.

Progress is complicated by environmental factors, like solar eclipses disrupting power generation, and by the presence of a hostile alien species. This introduces a challenging military layer to the city-building foundation, demanding investment in weapons research, intelligence, and military units alongside civilian development. Long-term success depends on eliminating external threats to fully focus on advancing the colony's prosperity.
