About MechWar

MechWar is a computer adaptation of the BattleTech board game, created to serve as a direct digital translation. The original game involves large humanoid robots, approximately twelve meters tall, which are heavily armed and engage in combat against each other.

The developer sought a computer version primarily for solo testing of new robotic units, referred to as Mechs, and tactical strategies. Existing digital options were found lacking, as they were either role-playing games or arcade-style experiences, not fulfilling the need for a faithful simulation of the tabletop game.

This project was motivated by the desire for a more accessible and quicker way to experiment, contrasting with the board game's requirement for multiple participants and potentially lengthy play sessions. The source material notes the board game's popularity, which extended into a separate role-playing game format.
