Treasures of the Savage Frontier

Review
Also known as
Gateway II

This Gold Box RPG continues the saga, tasking your imported party to clear their names and thwart a conspiracy to shatter the Lord's Alliance.

Treasures of the Savage Frontier was developed by Beyond Software and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI) in 1992 for DOS. It is the sequel to Gateway to the Savage Frontier and was released on other platforms such as Amiga and Atari ST in the same year. The DOS version is the original platform, so both release_year and original_release_year are 1992.

About Treasures of the Savage Frontier

Treasures of the Savage Frontier is a role-playing game that continues the story from its predecessor, allowing players to bring their previously created characters into this new adventure. The narrative involves a group known as the Heroes of Ascore, who are called upon to assist dwarven forces in reclaiming the city of Llorkh from the Zhentarim, with further threats awaiting in the wilderness.

It utilizes SSI's Gold Box system, presenting gameplay from an overhead perspective. This viewpoint is used for navigating the party through exploration, entering structures, and engaging in tactical combat. Environmental conditions like weather are incorporated, influencing both travel and interactions with non-player characters.
