Space Quest: Chapter I – The Sarien Encounter

Space Quest: The Sarien Encounter is a science fiction adventure game built on Sierra's AGI engine, sharing a control scheme with titles like King's Quest. Players direct the protagonist using arrow keys and input text commands to interact with the environment, which involves solving various puzzles.

The protagonist is Roger Wilco, a janitor aboard the starship Arcada. His routine is violently interrupted when the vessel is assaulted by the Sarien faction, who eliminate the crew and seize a powerful device called the Star Generator. Finding himself the sole survivor, Roger must escape the ship before it self-destructs, setting the stage for a confrontation with the attackers.

This scenario establishes a challenging pace, as the player must navigate immediate dangers and logical obstacles to ensure Roger's survival. The game's tone is humorous, framing an unlikely hero against a galactic threat.
