This cinematic platformer challenges players to solve puzzles and survive a hostile alien world through combat and exploration.

Out of This World (Another World) was originally released in 1991 for Amiga and Atari ST. The DOS version was released in 1992 by Interplay Productions.

About Out Of This World

Out Of This World transports a physicist named Lester from a laboratory accident to an alien environment where survival depends on combat and puzzle-solving. The gameplay integrates shooting, platform navigation, and environmental challenges across interconnected stages, with each area presenting new obstacles.

Combat revolves around an energy gun acquired early on, which offers offensive, defensive, and shield-breaking functions. Enemies wield similar weapons, making encounters challenging and requiring tactical use of these options alongside pattern recognition. Progression is handled through stage codes learned upon completion, and death forces a restart of the current level.

The game emphasizes exploration and problem-solving without an on-screen interface or dialogue. Its visual presentation relies on vector graphics for both the environments and animated story sequences. Lester's journey is aided by an alien companion met during an escape, underscoring a theme of cooperation.
