Backlash

Backlash is a first-person arcade action game requiring fast reflexes. The setting is a vast, flat terrain populated by hostile UFOs that attack the player from all sides.

Players begin with five lives and earn points by destroying these enemies. A central aiming reticle is supplemented by a circular radar display, where white dots form the perimeter and red dots indicate UFO positions.

The environment is not static, featuring a cycle between day and night. The landscape itself is dotted with obstacles, specifically spike-like objects rendered in a pseudo-3D style. This gameplay and perspective are comparable to titles like Battlezone and the earlier 8-bit game Encounter.
