Super Turrican

Review
Also known as
Super Turrican 1 スーパータリカン

Explore large levels with a versatile arsenal to defeat The Machine's forces.

Super Turrican was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. It is an original game in the Turrican series, not a port, so the original release year is also 1993.

About Super Turrican

Super Turrican continues the series narrative, casting the player as a U.S.S. Freedom Force soldier in an assault suit to combat an entity known as The Machine. The gameplay unfolds across expansive, non-linear stages designed for exploration, with many hidden items and areas to find.

Combat utilizes a primary arsenal of three distinct weapon types, each capable of being enhanced. These include a wide-firing spreadshot, a concentrated laser, and a projectile that ricochets off surfaces. A separate, fully rotatable Freeze-Beam serves a dual purpose, immobilizing foes and aiding in locating concealed power-up capsules.

Beyond standard weaponry, the assault suit can morph into an energy wheel when sufficient special energy is available. This transformation grants temporary invulnerability and allows for the placement of mines, offering a strategic advantage.
