About Star Ocean

Star Ocean is a Japanese role-playing game that blends medieval fantasy with science fiction. The narrative follows Ratix, a young warrior from the town of Clatos, who embarks on a quest with his friends Dorn and Milly to cure a mysterious plague. Their mission takes an unexpected turn when they encounter a crashed spacecraft, forcing an alliance between their world and a more advanced civilization.

Gameplay involves real-time, fast-paced combat where the player directly controls Ratix while managing AI-driven party members. Strategic depth is added through customizable tactics for companions and the ability to pause battles for decision-making. A notable social system tracks an Approval Rating, where relationships between characters dynamically shift based on the player's actions and how party members perceive Ratix.
