About Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals

Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals is a Japanese-style turn-based role-playing game. Its narrative functions as a prequel, detailing the emergence of the Sinistrals, a group of powerful antagonists, nearly a century before the events of the first title in the series.

The protagonist is Maxim, a swordsman and ancestor of the hero from the earlier game. His quest begins after meeting Iris, leading him to assemble a party to confront the world-threatening Sinistrals. Dungeon exploration integrates puzzle-solving as a core activity, requiring the use of specific items and accessories to progress.

Combat encounters within dungeons are not random; enemies are visible on the map. A distinctive feature is the Capsule Monster system, where creatures can be recruited to fight alongside the party and will evolve when given certain items.
