About Alcahest

Alcahest is an action game that incorporates role playing elements through character progression and temporary party members. Its narrative spans a millennium, beginning with an ancient swordsman who defeated a demon god with the aid of four Guardians. In the present, a new hero named Alen emerges to confront an empire that seeks to wield that same demonic power for conquest.

Gameplay involves real time exploration and combat where defeating enemies yields experience. Accumulated experience results in increased health, and discovered treasure can be used to improve weaponry. While primarily controlling Alen, other characters will occasionally assist the player, providing access to unique special attacks and magic spells during their time in the party. Significant enemy encounters take the form of boss battles.

The story's conflict is cyclical, triggered by the reappearance of an ominous celestial body. The current threat is twofold, involving both a mortal imperial army and the resurgent supernatural force of Alcahest. The protagonist's quest is to halt the empire's plans and permanently destroy the demonic entity.
