About Toys

"Toys" is an isometric action game adapted from a 1992 film. The setting is Zevo Toys, a factory where the mission of creating whimsical playthings is subverted by its new military-minded leader. This leader, General Leland Zevo, has begun producing dangerous weaponized versions of toys, prompting his nephew Leslie to intervene.

Players control Leslie, who must navigate three primary factory areas: the West Bay, the cafeteria, and the warehouse. The core objective is to disable a series of elephant-head security cameras, each actively defended by hostile toys. These defenders include vehicles like jeeps and Tommy Tanks, airborne threats such as Hurly-Burly Helicopters and bomb-carrying balloons, and ground units like pogo stick bears.

To survive, Leslie is supplied with an arsenal of counter-toys by his cousin Patrick. This arsenal includes a peanut gun, bowling balls, spinning tops, custard pies, and water balloons. The environment also contains roaming hazards like wind-up bombs, slime creatures, spiders, and paratroopers, making navigation challenging.

Destroying a camera is a two-stage process. First, Leslie must blind its eyes using a water gun, then continue spraying the lens until it breaks. The task is complicated by the camera's movement and a defensive laser that activates if the player takes too long, adding a fair degree of pressure to the encounters.

After clearing all cameras in the factory, a final stage involves piloting a giant toy plane through a model of Manhattan. This segment requires avoiding enemy helicopters and maintaining the plane's charge by passing through giant coils. Success leads to the General's office, where Leslie confronts his uncle to end the threat and restore the company's original purpose.
