The Ooze

Review
Also known as
ジ・ウーズ

Control a scientist transformed into a living puddle, solving puzzles and absorbing mass to navigate back to the lab.

The Ooze was developed by Sega Technical Institute and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis in 1995. This is the original platform and earliest commercial release of the game.

About The Ooze

The Ooze is a top down action puzzle game from the later period of the Sega Genesis. Players control a scientist transformed into a green, amorphous substance after a laboratory accident.

Gameplay involves navigating through environments from a washed away starting point, with the objective of returning to the lab. This journey requires overcoming adversaries and solving environmental puzzles to progress.

A core mechanic is the collection of additional ooze and other items found within the levels. These acquisitions aid in confronting obstacles and enemies encountered throughout the adventure, which is driven by the need to thwart a global takeover scheme.
