About Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe

Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe is a futuristic sports game where the player assumes the role of a manager tasked with improving a notably poor team. The core experience involves direct control during matches, which are fast-paced and encourage physical play to gain possession of the ball.

Financial resources are earned through match results and by collecting silver tokens that appear during play. This currency is used in a management layer between matches to enhance the squad, either by upgrading original players to their limited potential or by purchasing superior replacements.

Matches unfold in two short periods and feature a dynamic playing field. Various tokens provide temporary advantages, such as increasing team strength or immobilizing opponents. The pitch includes scoring modifiers, with a multiplier gate that increases point values for goals, though opponents can negate this gain. Fixed stars offer additional points if struck, but their final values are contested and only confirmed after each half. Portals on the sidelines redirect the ball across the pitch.

The competitive structure offers a challenging progression through a league system with two divisions and includes two separate cup tournaments, one decided by aggregate score over two matches.
