About Sparkster

Sparkster is a 2D side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Genesis, serving as a direct sequel to Rocket Knight Adventures. The narrative continues from the previous game, with the opossum knight Sparkster facing his corrupted former ally, Axel Gear, who is again serving the Empire of Gedol. The primary objective involves restoring peace to the Kingdom of Zebulos and rescuing Princess Cherry after she is kidnapped.

Gameplay revolves around movement, jumping, and sword attacks, augmented by a rocket pack. This pack enables aerial bursts and more powerful strikes, governed by a two-stage recharge meter that allows for consecutive airborne maneuvers and wall ricochets. Health can be restored by collecting apples, while diamonds and various sword power-ups are also found throughout the six levels. One stage deviates from the standard platforming by having the player control a giant robot to defeat airborne foes.

A hidden collectible system offers an additional challenge, where finding seven concealed swords transforms the character into Golden Sparkster. Progress is saved using a password system.
