Sonic 3D Blast

Sonic 3D Blast is a platforming game where the player controls Sonic across seven levels on Flicky Island. The antagonist Dr. Robotnik has captured the dimension-hopping Flickies, transforming them into robotic badniks that Sonic must defeat.

The game's perspective is isometric, allowing movement in four directions rather than offering fully three-dimensional graphics. This installment represents Sonic's sole platform release for the Sega Saturn and was also made available for personal computers, marking it as the final Sonic title on the Mega Drive.

Gameplay involves destroying badniks to free the animals inside, but a key difference is that Sonic must then carry each rescued creature to a special ring. While players can complete this objective individually, gathering all five animals in a zone unlocks access to continue tokens. The pace is generally slower than other series entries, and there is no strict time limit for finishing a level, though completing it within ten minutes grants a bonus.

To obtain all seven Chaos Emeralds, Sonic needs to first locate either Tails or Knuckles and present them with a minimum of fifty rings. The ultimate goal is a confrontation with Robotnik to resolve the capture of the Flickies.
