Hook

Review

A grown-up Peter Pan battles through 11 side-scrolling levels to rescue his kidnapped children from Captain Hook.

Hook for Sega Genesis was developed by Ukiyotei and published by Sony Imagesoft in 1992. The original arcade game was also released in 1992, so the Genesis version is a port of the same-year arcade title.

About Hook

"Hook" is a side-scrolling action game for the Sega Genesis based on the Steven Spielberg film. The player controls an adult Peter Pan, who is returned to Neverland by Tinker Bell after Captain Hook kidnaps his children.

Gameplay involves navigating eleven distinct environments, which include forests, towns, and icy areas. Peter must jump, climb, and swim through these levels while confronting Hook's forces. The combat is designed to be fair, as defeated enemies surrender by raising their hands instead of dying.

Players can find magic items like apples and pixie dust throughout the adventure to gain special abilities. The core objective remains constant: to defeat enemies across the varied landscapes and ultimately rescue Peter's kidnapped kids.
