El Viento is set in 1930s New York, where a cult and its criminal allies seek to resurrect the entity Hastur to gain global dominion. The protagonist is Annet, a girl from Hastur's own bloodline who opposes this goal. Her primary armament is a magical boomerang.
Gameplay involves moving through urban and subterranean environments like sewers and caves, confronting hostile forces. Players can gather various items during these excursions. The conflict centers on stopping the cult's rituals before they can succeed.
