Cave Story

Cave Story presents a platforming adventure where an amnesiac soldier named Quote explores a world inhabited by rabbit-like Mimigas. These creatures face threats from a doctor conducting experiments, while holding onto legends of past heroes and dragons. The narrative involves a character named Sue, who possesses knowledge of Dragon Eggs and becomes a target.

Gameplay involves navigating environments with jumping challenges and confronting bosses, making the experience challenging. The player gathers a range of weapons, such as a blade, machine gun, and missile launcher, which can be enhanced through three levels. Health can be permanently increased by collecting capsules.

The visual and interactive design recalls 8-bit era platformers, characterized by a distinct aesthetic and brisk pacing. A specific DSiWare release maintains much of the original content, omitting several alterations found in a prior version. This iteration adds a time attack mode, holiday themed outfits, and a feature to unlock the game's musical tracks.
