About Bubble and Squeak

Bubble and Squeak is a platform game for the Sega Genesis where the player controls a bald child navigating scrolling environments. The core gameplay involves avoiding enemies, which can be defeated to release coins, and discovering hidden areas.

A significant mechanic is introduced early on when the player meets Squeak, a blue alien companion. Progress requires guiding both characters, as Squeak has a more limited jumping ability. This creates a puzzle element, often necessitating that Squeak be left behind temporarily while the player manipulates the environment. The two characters can also interact directly, with the child using Squeak as a launchpad for an exceptionally high jump.

An enhanced state called Bubble Mode grants increased speed, higher jumps, and more powerful bubble-based weaponry. This mode is accessed by inserting a collected coin into a Bubblegum machine and then performing the special jump from Squeak's back. The game's structure is broken up by bonus stages that are side-view underwater shooter segments.
