Review
Also known as
Castelian Kyorochan Land Nebulus キョロちゃんランド

Navigate rotating towers to reach the top and destroy them, avoiding enemies along the way.

Tower Toppler is the NES version of Nebulus, originally released in 1987 on home computers. The NES version was released in North America in 1988 by U.S. Gold as Tower Toppler, and in Japan in 1988 by Hiro as Kyorochan Land.

About Tower Toppler

Castelian is a game where the player controls a character tasked with destroying eight towers to prevent them from contaminating planetary water supplies. The objective is reached by ascending each structure's exterior, navigating walkways and avoiding hostile creatures. Vertical progress primarily depends on timing jumps onto moving platforms.

A notable technical feature for its era was the visual presentation, which created a pseudo three dimensional effect. This was achieved by keeping the protagonist centered on screen while the tower background rotated around them. Between the main tower stages, transportation occurs via a submarine in a side scrolling segment where items can be collected for bonus points.

The core activity involves a combination of evasion and confrontation with enemies during the ascent. The journey to each tower's summit is challenging, requiring precise jumps and dealing with various obstacles along the path.
