Little Lancelot

The Legend of Prince Valiant is a side scrolling action title based on a cartoon and comic property. Players control the prince on a journey to locate Camelot and undertake a quest for King Arthur, with the ultimate aim of achieving knighthood.

Standard progression involves moving rightward across levels while evading or defeating assorted foes. These adversaries range from human fighters to mythical beasts like dragons. Environmental hazards such as pits and bodies of water must be jumped over to avoid fatal consequences. The protagonist can sustain several hits, and health can be restored by collecting certain items. A crossbow serves as the primary weapon, firing projectiles in a straight line.

The core gameplay is occasionally broken by two distinct special stages. One presents a first person perspective where the player controls a targeting reticle during an on rails sequence. The other involves managing a battery of six cannons, where the player chooses which cannon to fire and determines the projectile's range. Both of these segments require eliminating all enemies while avoiding damage.

A subsequent release in the United States removed the Prince Valiant license. This version is otherwise identical, but features the character Lancelot as the main protagonist.
