Fight through city streets using punches and kicks to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend.

Renegade (Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun) was originally released in arcades in 1986. The NES version was released in Japan in 1987 and in North America in 1988. The earliest worldwide commercial release on the NES platform is 1987 (Japan), but the legacy year 1986 refers to the arcade original. However, the NES version was first released in Japan in 1987, so release_year should be 1987. The original arcade release was 1986.

About Renegade

Renegade is a scrolling beat 'em up originally developed by Technos. The game's premise involves a protagonist navigating through five distinct urban areas, such as subway stations and docks, to ultimately rescue a kidnapped girlfriend.

Its setting is the streets of Brooklyn, which is a localized adaptation of a Japanese city from the original version that launched a broader series. The combat system provides players with a variety of forceful attacks, including punches, kicks, and aerial maneuvers.

The tone of the action incorporates a humorous, exaggerated style. This release later inspired several unofficial follow-up titles.
