Review
Also known as
Karate Champ Kung Fu Kung Fu Master Seiken Achō Spartan X Taekwon-Do スパルタンX

This side-scrolling brawler demands precise timing to fight through five challenging floors.

Kung-Fu Master (Spartan X) was originally released in arcades by Irem in 1984. The NES/Famicom version was released in Japan as Spartan X in 1985, making 1985 the earliest commercial release of this exact game version on the NES platform.

About Kung-Fu Master

Kung-Fu Master is a side scrolling action game where players control Thomas, a restaurant owner skilled in martial arts. His objective is to rescue Sylvia from the top floor of a castle controlled by Mr. X.

Gameplay involves navigating through multiple floors, each populated with numerous opponents. The journey is challenging, culminating in a confrontation with a floor boss at the end of every level before finally facing Mr. X himself. Thomas can perform basic movements and attacks, including a defensive maneuver where enemy projectiles like knives can be kicked back at their source.

The game supports one or two players taking alternating turns. Its premise is loosely derived from a film.
