This run and gun game demands precise controls to survive its challenging stages.

About Contra

Contra is a game where players control one of two marine commandos, Bill Rizer or Lance Bean. Their mission is to fight through a terrorist group called Red Falcon on the Galuga archipelago, following an alien-related meteorite impact in 2631.

Gameplay involves navigating stages while shooting enemies and dodging their attacks. The standard rifle can be replaced with one of four upgrades, such as a spread shot weapon. The experience varies by system, with level counts differing across computer and arcade releases.

The arcade original features ten levels. Ports for systems like the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC contain seven levels, while the Commodore 64 version has six and the DOS version offers nine. Some computer versions use a flip-screen presentation instead of scrolling.
