This platformer demands precise jumps and careful resource management to survive its challenging stages.

Adventure Island (Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima) was first released for the Famicom/NES in Japan on September 12, 1986. This is the original version of the game, not a port, so the original release year is also 1986.

About Adventure Island

Adventure Island is a side scrolling action game set in the South Pacific. The player controls Master Higgins, whose peaceful life is disrupted when the Evil Witch Doctor kidnaps Tina.

Progression involves moving from left to right across levels, with a steadily decreasing stamina meter that requires constant collection of food items to prevent death. Power ups such as throwing axes and fireballs are found inside large eggs, providing offensive capabilities. One notable item is a skateboard that greatly increases movement speed, though its loss upon taking a hit leaves the character vulnerable.

Without the skateboard's protection, a single hit results in instant death, making the gameplay challenging. Each area concludes with a boss encounter, culminating in a final confrontation with the Evil Witch Doctor himself.
