Adventure Island II

Adventure Island 2 is a side scrolling platformer where the protagonist, Master Higgins, must rescue his companion from extraterrestrial invaders. The game is structured across eight distinct worlds, navigated via an overhead map that sometimes offers branching paths leading to different stages.

Core survival mechanics involve managing a constantly depleting hunger meter by collecting food, while avoiding enemy contact, which is instantly fatal without a protective item. Players can equip various power ups before entering a level, including weapons and a speed enhancing skateboard, which mitigate this challenging vulnerability.

A significant new feature is the inclusion of dinosaur mounts that grant unique abilities, such as flight or projectile attacks. Each world culminates in a boss encounter that must be defeated to progress.
