R-Type II

R-Type II presents a side scrolling shooter experience where players pilot the R-9C spacecraft. This ship is an updated model from the first game, featuring several altered combat systems.

While the arcade original and ports like the Amiga release feature six distinct stages, each concluding with a boss encounter, the Game Boy adaptation is reduced to five. This handheld version also omits the new armaments introduced elsewhere.

These additions in other versions include a wave cannon with enemy tracking and two new laser types, alongside a bomb designed for use against ground based targets.
